This is a must for any fisherman. One of the biggest pains with a new reel is putting line on the reel. Unless you have someone willing to hold the line it is almost impossible to do without messing up. This is easy to put together and can be ready to install line within minutes. I used it to install line on my spinning reel and batcaster with no issues using Piscifun braided line.
I bought this line spooler with little expectations. Little did I know it would turn into the best investment I have made in years. No more line twist, no more holding a pencil. Just spools line like a dream! I spooled three sizes of spinning reels to show it works with them all. Have yet to spool a baitcaster. Just hands down one happy customer!
Very very happy. This is one of the greatest fishing accessories you can buy! As much of a spin fisherman as I am. I know know I can reload a spool quick and easy. No line twist, that was what I kept hearing but was skeptical. Glad I took the risk. The hardest part about this tool is keeping it away from the fishing buddies. They will try everything to snag it
This spooler is an excellent tool to spool up your reels, whether it's a bait caster reel, or a spinning reel, it's very easy to use!!! Especially if you don't have assistance when you are spooling up your reels, it can hold the proper tension on your line, to make the process simple and easy!!!
Genius design. This tool is worth every penny which it sells for. I've re-spooled all my reels ( well over a dozen ) since receiving this and it provides the same flawless results each and every time I use it. You can adjust the line tension to exactly where you want and load line with ease. Works with monofilament, fluorocarbon and braid with the same ease of use.
I finally got a chance to use this and it is hands down the best reel spooling device I have ever tried. The way the gimbal action works on this thing it makes it supper easy to spool a spinning reel as well as a bait caster. It eliminates a lot of line twist as it spins the spool as it unwinds which beats the heck out of the having a dancing spool of line turn into a knot on the floor or become an accidental cat/dog toy. Before you use it I would advise you watch a youtube video on how to set it up. It wasn't intuitive to me but once I watched someone set it up, it was a cake walk. The only thing I wish it had was a line counter so I knew how much I was adding.
I have had one for about 3 years with no issues. No more line twist when spooling a spinning reel. Hold the line winder vertical so any wobble does slow the rotation of the spool. Get the rythum so the spool is rotating at the same rate as your reel’s rotor and just keep a steady pace. Great for bait casters to. I dropped it onto the hard floor and the pin for the swivel arm came out and there is no way to get into it to add the clip back on. Otherwise it would be 5 stars.
The biggest problem when loading line onto a spinning reel at home is the matter of line twist; the very design of the reel makes twist inevitable unless you have access to a tackle shop-style "professional" line spooler. This device allows the filler spool to spin along with the spool on the reel, keeping that twist to a minimum. I won't say it completely eliminates twist, but it certainly keeps line twist to a minimum.

This gadget is the best thing I’ve ever used to spool a spinning reel. Line tension was perfect. Absolutely no line twist. I re-spool my spinning reals at least twice a year and between my wife and I we have 10 reels to refill. I expect to get a lot of use out of this device. I have not used it for bait casting reels yet but I expect it will be fine because line twist is not usually a problem there.
Trust me when I say that it's worth every single penny. It's probably one of the best investments that I've ever made for my fishing gear. You won't have to worry about finding a 2nd person to help you hold the spool or anything. You can basically spool all your reels (spin/cast/etc) in a few minutes. I've help all my other co anglers spool all their reels for this upcoming spring and they love it as well. I believe every angler should own one of these.
Used this last night to spool some braid on one of my reels and am pleased so far.
Have not tested to see if braid knots up when casting, but seems to operate exactly as designed, and no problems setting up.
When using with a spinning reel the device turns the braid spool on both axis and would seem to eliminate any twisting.
Adding some tension keeps the spool from being pulled from the device while loading the line. Also very convenient to mount the reel as part of the device.
Excellent tool for the fisherman, works as advertised. Some small issues with line when there is not enough tension but minor issue compared to trying to get line on a spool solo without line twist. Works so far with mono, flouro and braid. I use a lot of 6lb flouro and have no issues with such a light line.
It is a well made device first off and feels very strong. I watched a few youtube videos first to see how others use it and it definitely helped. I have used it to spool a spinning reel and a bait caster. It is awesome how the spool of string spins with the reel preventing line twist.
Great product. I have nothing bad to say about this at all and as someone who loves to fish but is fairly new this was exactly what I needed so I dont have to go to Bass Pro Shop all the time to get this done. It comes put together which is a major plus and it also had the instructions on the package of all the parts and how you WOULD put it together if you had to
I couldn't be more pleased with this product. Wish I had this years ago. Went on a 10 day fishing trip to Florida, and needed to re-string a couple of my reels. Well once I did one reel; Well things got REAL..... be prepared to have enough string to do them all.
This is a great product! I've used it on three of my reels already with great results.
I strongly suggest prior to spooling your reel, that you be sure to tighten the presure on the spool of line prior to cranking your reel. Don't overtighten, just make sure there is enough presure to hold the spool in place with some friction. Also lock the spool so it doesn't rotate while you tie the Arbor knot to your reel then be sure to unlock the spool before cranking your reel.
Here are my likes about this device, first off the fact that it is mobile and can be used in the field as well as at home. The build of the device is as good as it gets. At first I was having a problem with the spool of line staying on the device and after I was able to get that taken care of another problem developed which was not expected, the line was coming off the spool not as it should have but off the side of the spool which caused it to tangle around the locking arms of the device.
Recovery from Hurricane Irma in the Florida Keys - 16 months later - meant a need to re-spool ten reels, all damaged from the storm. They ranged from 8-lb test spinning reels to 80 lb test deep sea reels. This is NEVER an enjoyable task! Just too time consuming and usually results in some tangled line, more so for spinning reels. This little tool certainly made that task easier and much more tolerable. It takes one or two reels to come to understand the pace that is needed to have the spool rotate at the proper speed for the particular reel.
My wife used to have to hold the spool with tension before I got this. I usually spool about 300 yards of like, so that takes a while. This thing allows me to do it by myself. However, it has a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, it’s not trivial how to set up the spool and reel. You really have to take the instructions as a one to one guide.
My initial negative review of this product was tempered by a little experimentation. Although excellent for spinning reels , I was initially unhappy with the lack of untwisting ability on bait casting or flat reels. Careful placement of the reel to correspond with reel motion,clockwise/counterclockwise, produced a tight even wrap
This was exactly what was needed for loading up my spinning reels with fresh line. My wife loved the fact that she could go do something interesting rather than be a fishing line spool holder. The ability to set the spool clamp into free rotation meant that my fishing line went on (and can cast off) my spinning reels without twisted line knots. This is a "must have" device for anyone serious about fishing
This spooler was exactly as advertised. Relined my reels prior to going to Canada for a weeks fishing. I did not have one bird's nest the entire time of heavy casting and many fish. Highly recommend this spooler over the traditional way of horizontal winding. Eliminates twists in the line. Quality of the device is very well made.
